Wednesday's Wisdom

Have you ever looked into your child's eyes and just gotten lost in them? Have you ever just allowed a tender moment to linger in your heart in the midst of the craziness of life?

There are moments that Alberto and I share that are very sweet and precious. I look at him as he's falling asleep. Sometimes, he'll grab my hand. Sometimes, he will caress my face. Sometimes, he just wants to go to sleep and for me to leave him alone but wait until he's asleep before I really leave him alone.

Sometimes, I just think of those sweet times, reflect and smile.

It helps to put a lot of things in perspective. I am truly blessed to be Alberto's mom. Not sure why God smiled down on me on that particular day. Not even sure how on earth God figured the perfect moment for everything to get rolling so that when I was ready; Alberto was ready too.

I am extremely blessed to be Alberto's mom. He is a terrific little man. He is full of life and has a spirit of adventure. He is courageous, smart and agile. He has a great sense of balance and a wonderful personality. He keeps me on my toes and never lets life be boring. Every day, he shows me something new. Sometimes it's a big thing -- like showing me he can figure out how to climb the rock wall on his swing set without anyone teaching him (I was impressed!). Or exerting his individuality with this Thomas shirt (that he did wear to church; fortunately he goes to the nursery so Thomas wasn't choo chooing during service). Sometimes, he shows me his tender side with a caress, a kiss or a hug. He likes to surprise me with new words and celebrates every time he achieves something.

I thank God for His truly wonderful gift to me and the privilege and honor of being Alberto's mom.

We certainly are blessed! I love those times when they are sleeping and we get to watch them. I really think the definition of "Peace" should read "A sleeping baby". Apparantly Webster was not a Mom.
